Grab yourself a brew and read on…
With summer well and truly here it’s that time of the year when you start to see all the “detailers” coming at you from everywhere.
You’ll be offered every service under the sun including the kitchen sink.
Please be very careful when you are offered a full paintwork correction and ceramic coating on your driveway. Oh and done by midday.
Lets put a few things into context here and now.
So then, paintwork corrections. Massively overused term.
A full paintwork correction as the name suggests means you are being offered a high level package that will remove ALL defects from your car.
In the real world this simply isn’t possible unless you start removing parts such as badges, door handles, exterior trims and so on. Even having to have areas with damage repainted.
Still think you are getting a “full correction package” on your driveway in a few hours?
All exterior surfaces need extensive cleaning before any equipment touches your vehicle. Also known as a decontamination package.
This part of the process would usually take a true professional at least 4 hours to complete correctly.
Moving onto the machine work this is where all the jargon will be thrown at you.
With modern polishing products the days of 5 stage polishing are long gone. Most defects can be improved with a few stages and many vehicles hugely improved with a single stage.
Most packages are basically a gloss enhancement sold as way more. Being able to achieve a flawless result on a driveway is way beyond achievable without some super human skills.
The big one… Ceramic Coatings.
We don’t get this one. These products have to be applied in a temperature controlled environment and ideally left overnight before seeing the outside world. So how can a driveway be temperature controlled?
Still think you are getting a professional approved installer level skill? Really?
When you want to have your vehicle protected correctly feel free to get in touch.
Thanks for reading. We hope it was useful.
